Chamonix Mont Blanc

CHAMONIX-MONT-BLANC, FRANCE (September 16, 2016) – Chamonix, which has become my home away from home while living abroad, gave me once again an opportunity to play in the Alps during my university’s fall break this September. Over the past three years, I’ve been fortunate to run, hike, scramble, and otherwise explore most of the trails and valleys surrounding Mont Blanc. Mont Blanc (15,777ft / 4,808m), which stands as the highest mountain in the Alps, is really more of a mountain range unto itself than a single mountain. Its north summit technically lies within the boundaries of the town of Chamonix where the first Winter Olympics were held in 1924. The area remains one of the world’s most important hubs for both summer and winter mountain sports and alpine activities.
